JOISTS: When the horizontal beams are laid on edge to support flooring or a ceiling.
JUDGMENT: This is an official court decision. If the judgment requires payment from one party to another, the court may put a lien against the property as collateral.
JUDICIAL FORECLOSURE: When a type of foreclosure is conducted as a civil suit in a court of law.
JUMBO LOAN: A mortgage loan for an amount that exceeds the limits set by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
